Powderhorn wading pool opens for splish-splashing
Repairs completed on 40-year-old pool

The Powderhorn Park wading pool opened July 2 following emergency repairs and just in time for the holiday weekend and summer heat. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board was unable to open the pool in mid-June due to such significant leakage in water lines that the pool was unable to hold water.

“The wading pool has always been a popular neighborhood recreation destination for families with children,” said Scott Vreeland, District 3 Commissioner for the Park Board. “As a caretaker of small children, I know how important wading pools are and we were fortunate that this particular repair could be completed so that we could use the pool this season and for years to come.”

Built in the 1971, the pool is in good condition overall and the repairs provide a long-term solution.
