Former “Music & Movies” series has new life with “4 Nights in Loring: Local Bands. Local Films”

City Pages Lunds, Lay’s and The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) are pleased to announce “4 Nights in Loring: Local Bands. Local Films.” – a series of free music and movie events on Tuesdays, August 3, 10, 17 and 24 in Loring Park.

Continuing in the spirit of the former “Music & Movies” series, we will showcase bands from the Twin Cities' diverse and historic music scene followed by a movie, selected by Twin Cities residents!

Voting will take place on the City Pages Web site from June 28 to July 19 and the winning movies and band line-up will be announced on July 28.

“Upon learning of the cancellation of the ‘Music & Movies’ series, we’ve come together to create and fund the first-ever ‘4 Nights in Loring: Local Bands. Local Films.’ series this summer. Because of the community nature of this event, we want those attending to feel a sense of ownership and are asking them to vote for the movies they would like to see at Loring Park this August. We also want to celebrate all that is wonderful not only about Minneapolis, but also Minnesota,” said Molly Mample, Events and Promotions Manager at Lund Food Holdings, Inc.

City Pages’ music blog, Gimme Noise, is hitting the pavement to secure four of the Twin Cities’ best local bands to perform before the movies each night, Lunds will be on-site providing snacks, beverages and other great food (at very reasonable prices) and the MPRB is providing movie screen and space. On select evenings, Lay’s will provide samples for attendees while enjoying the free entertainment.
