Rec Plus summer program registration underway
 
The Rec Plus school-age childcare program is taking applications for its summer program that is offered Monday, June 14, through Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. at 16 Minneapolis recreation centers:

• Hiawatha School, 4305 42nd St. E, 612-370-4952
• Keewaydin, 3030 53rd St. E, 612-370-4956
• Kenwood, 2101 Franklin Ave. W, 612-370-4941
• Linden Hills, 3100 43rd St. W, 612-370-4913
• Matthews, 2318 29th Ave. S, 612-370-4950
• Nokomis, 2401 Minnehaha Pkwy. E, 612-370-4923
• Pershing, 3523 48th St. W, 612-370-4928
• Sibley, 1900 40th St. E, 612-370-4954

Activities include games and sports, swim lessons, arts and crafts, two park classes per day, one field trip a week and nutritious snacks (cost included). Children must bring a bag lunch daily.

Rec Plus+ focuses on three goals:
1. Provides parents with affordable recreation based school-age care in local park centers.
2. Enables children to experience positive benefits of a balanced recreation program.
3. Provides a safe environment for children that promote healthy physical and social development.

Fee assistance can be requested by qualified Minneapolis residents. Parents should contact their desired Rec Plus+ site for fees, availability and complete registration information.
