Reconstructed West River Parkway trails open for use

The bike and pedestrian trails along West River Parkway between Godfrey Parkway and Franklin Ave. in Minneaoplis are open following reconstruction this summer and fall.

The trails were updated to current design and safety standards. Reconstruction has improved trail safety and durability, separated bike and pedestrian trails where possible, and river bluff protection and enhancement. Striping of the trail will be done in the spring. The project includes signage, site furnishings, lighting, drinking water fountains and landscaping, which will also be done in the spring.

The project was funded with a combination of Federal TEA-21 transportation funds, MPRB funds, a Mississippi Watershed Management Organization (MWMO) grant, City of Minneapolis and Hennepin County.
