The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) and the Minnesota Dance Theatre and Dance Institute (MDT/DI) are collaborating to offer the City Children’s Dance in the Parks program at two Minneapolis parks this fall.
The program is open to all children ages 7-9 years, no previous dance experience is necessary to participate. The fee for the nine-week program is $15; fee waivers are available. Classes are taught by professional dance instructors from MDT/DI with a curriculum focusing on the major elements of dance, including: Time (tempo, accent, pattern); Force (sharp, smooth, strong, light); Space (direction, level); and Body (parts, moves, steps). The City Children’s Dance Project provides an excellent opportunity for creative expression through dance.
