William Berry Park is located between Lake Harriet and Lake Calhoun in the Linden Hills neighborhood. Known for its wooded, hilly landscape, the park’s natural beauty has been preserved since it was acquired in 1889. Originally named Interlachen Park – meaning between the lakes – the park was renamed in honor of the park system’s first Superintendent, William Morse Berry in 1916.
Recreational amenities at William Berry Park include an archery range, walking and cycling paths, and picnic amenities. The custom playground features nature-themed equipment, designed for children ages 2–5, and school-aged kids, ages 5–12. Equipment includes slides, climbers and swings, and a water play feature.
The William Berry Parkway, which passes through the park, is part of the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway, connecting Lake Harriet Parkway to Lake Calhoun Parkway. Nearby recreation destinations include the tennis courts and picnic grounds of Beard's Plaisance, and Linden Hills Park, which features sports courts and fields, and a Recreation Center offering youth programs and other activities.
