| Edward C. Solomon Park |
One of the newer parks in the Minneapolis Park System, it is named after the late Edward C. Solomon, a much-loved commissioner. The park was dedicated in August 2004.
The 45 acre park, bounded by Cedar Ave. on the east, 58th St. on the north, 13th Ave. on the west and 60th St. on the south, was acquired through a trade with the Metropolitan Airports Commission. Located in the Fifth Park District, the park encompasses open fields, wetlands and hilly wooded areas. There's also an archery range at E. 58th St. & 15th Ave. S.
Historical Profile: More information about this and other parks is included in Parks, Lakes, Trails and So Much More, a richly detailed account of the histories of Minneapolis’ renown recreational system.
