Historic Main St.

Historic Main Street is located between the Hennepin Ave. bridge and Father Hennepin Bluffs Park on the east side of the Mississippi River. The area was originally part of the town of St. Anthony before it merged with Minneapolis.

Today Main Street features historic rehabilitated commercial and industrial buildings on the east side. Across the street wooded green space and picnic areas edge the picturesque Mississippi Gorge.

Historical Profile: More information about this and other parks is included in Parks, Lakes, Trails and So Much More, a richly detailed account of the histories of Minneapolis’ renown recreational system. (See Main Street section.)
