Gateway Park extends a welcome greeting to all who visit the City of Lakes. The Gateway Fountain cycles jets of water that are illuminated nightly with rotating, colored lights. This is just one of several fountains beautifying Minneapolis parks.
In 2008 a new flag was raised at the Gateway Park flagpole, located on Hennepin Avenue and First St. S. The flag was donated by the Monument Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
Historical Profile: More information about this and other parks is included in Parks, Lakes, Trails and So Much More, a richly detailed account of the histories of Minneapolis’ renowned recreational system.
