McRae Park is a beautiful neighborhood park located on 47th St. next to St. Joseph’s Home for Children. At various times throughout the seasons, neighbors can visit the recreation center, see a youth baseball or football game, kids playing in-line or ice hockey, families enjoying the wading pool, or children enjoying the five slides or the swings galore in the three playgrounds.
The park features many benches for relaxing, paths that wander through gardens and fields and a small prairie planted in front of the recreation center.
Youth and adults can enjoy the basketball, tennis and volleyball courts, as well as the baseball, softball and football fields.
Historical Profile: More information about this and other parks is included in Parks, Lakes, Trails and So Much More, a richly detailed account of the histories of Minneapolis’ renown recreational system.
