Elmer the Elm Tree

Like Elmer the Elm Tree on Facebook!

Since 1976, Elmer the elm tree has served as the official mascot of the Forestry Department. Elmer's role is to:

  • Represent all the trees that have been planted throughout Minneapolis.
  • Educate kids in grades K through 4 about the importance and care needed of our urban forest
  • Promote the "Adopt A Tree Program" and encourages the watering of trees during dry conditions
  • Participate in Arbor Day celebrations, educational programs, parades, park celebrations.
