Since 1984, Elmer the elm tree has served as the official mascot of the Forestry Division. Elmer's role is to:
  • Represent all the trees that have been planted throughout Minneapolis.
  • Educate kids in grades K through 4 about the importance and care needed of our urban forest
  • Promote the “Adopt A Tree Program" and encourages the watering of trees during dry conditions
  • Participate in Arbor Day celebrations, educational programs, parades, park celebrations.

Invite Elmer to your special event. Contact the Forestry Division at 612-370-4900 for more information about Elmer the Elm Tree.
