Beekeeping Programs & Events

May through September Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board Beekeeping Programs

The Beez Kneez, a honeybee education and advocacy organization that establishes and maintains beehives in Minneapolis parks, provides a unique opportunity to safely explore a working beehive. Meet the queen, see the brood, and, if the hive is ready, taste honey!

Follow The Beez Kneez through a beekeeping season with our Introduction to Honey Bees and Beekeeping Bundle programs. Learn about the social structure of honey bees, how they compare to other insects and pollinators, why we keep bees the way we do, and why honey bees are critical pollinators to 1/3 of everything we eat. With the bundle program, we'll end the class learning how to extract honey! Perfect for all ages* and experience levels. Each class includes time in a beekeeping suit, safely exploring the hive.

Participate in beekeeping programs all season long:

  • Sign up for a beekeeping bundle
  • Register for single Introduction to Honey Bees classes
  • Volunteer for a bumble bee survey to gently catch, identify, and release bumblebees

Check out the flyer below for details, and click the Search & Register button to sign up.
