Did you know that many Minneapolis recreation centers have state-of-the-art computer labs available to the public at no fee? Come to the labs for homework help, to design artwork, read e-mail, or just surf the ‘Net.
The labs offer computer-based activities, interactive games, classes and educational software for users of all ages. Depending on the rec center’s requests, classes include Computer Fundamentals, Internet Basics, E-mail Basics, Introduction to Microsoft Word, etc. Most classes are free.
Users learn the importance and function of operating systems and how to manage files and folders. Using Word and Publisher applications, they can create scrapbooks, greeting cards and posters, to name just a few of the possibilities.
Expert volunteer staff is on hand to guide and teach the many nuances of computer technology. Special fee-based programs are offered in such areas as computer repair fundamentals.
