The Comprehensive Plan calls for the “development of activity plans that outline the delivery goals, benefits, facilities, operations and maintenance required to provide each major recreation activity (or group of similar activities) in the park system.” It further states that the plans should be used “to guide capital improvement and facility maintenance programs.” The Bike, Walk and Roll Plan is one of the first activity plans to be initiated. It will set the programming and infrastructure guidelines for the following activities: biking, in-line skating, walking, mountain biking, hiking, running and BMX riding.
In 2009, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) held a series of meetings to hear from the public about the Bike, Walk and Roll Plan. Future opportunities for input will be posted here.
