Skijoring (skiing with a dog pulling) is available in the Front-9 and in the J.D. Rivers/Wirth Lake areas. For safety reasons, skijoring is not allowed on the remainder of the Theodore Wirth trails. Skijorers are, of course, subject to the normal City of Minneapolis leash and refuse rules.
Walking – There is a designated winter walking route through the Eloise Butler area. Walking on the groomed trails in the Theodore Wirth system is strongly discouraged as walking on the trails can destroy the skiing experience and the work of the trail groomers. In areas where it is necessary to walk on the ski trails, please walk to the side of the trail.
Snowshoeing – Snowshoeing is allowed throughout the Theodore Wirth Trail system. Rentals are available at the Theodore Wirth Chalet. Some of the “best” snowshoeing takes place on the mountain bike trails. Park at the Par 3 parking lot and snowshoe west from the lot.
