Minneapolis Bike Tour

Start and Finish: Boom Island

Time: Bike Tour starts at 8 am, but you must on thecourse by 8:30 am

The 9th annual Minneapolis Bike Tour will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2015, starting and ending at beautiful Boom Island. The tour features three fully supported routes, 16 mile, 25 mile, and 32 miles that take riders through the spectacular Grand Rounds Scenic Byway System of Minneapolis at their own pace, traffic free!

Pre-Registration fee (until September 7, 2015)

  • Adult (Ages 18+): $30
  • Youth (Ages 6-17): $20
  • Child (Ages 0-5): Free

  • Adult (Ages 18+): $45
  • Youth (Ages 6-17): $30
  • Child (Ages 0-5): Free

Start Line is at the end of the Plymouth Ave Bridge at the intersection of Plymouth Ave and West River Road


Registration

Everyone participating in the Bike Tour must register, pay the registration fee, and complete the required event waiver. Registration is required for every rider over the age of five, regardless of the number of bikes used.

There is no registration fee for participants’ age five and under.

Each participant receives a bike tag that must be displayed on the front handlebars at all times during the Tour, an event shirt (only guaranteed to pre-registered participants), refreshments and mechanical support at water stops, access to the after party with music and a free beer for participants 21+ with a valid ID.

Bike Tour registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

  3. In-person at the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board Headquarters during business hours from 8 am-4:30 pm, Monday-Friday

PLEASE NOTE: Shirts are not guaranteed to event registrants, if you want a shirt please be sure to pre-register by Monday, September 7, 2015! If you are pre-registered you can pick up your t-shirt and bike tag on either day listed below.

Route Information

2015 Minneapolis Bike Tour map coming soon!

Estimated Route times (including time for water stops)

  • 16-mile route times (short route): 8 am-12 pm
  • 25 mile route times (intermediate route): 8 am-1:30 pm
  • 32 mile route times (long route): 8 am-2:30 pm

Please note: the route closes at 2:30 pm and re-opens to traffic. Anyone still on the route at 2:30 pm may move off the parkway and complete their ride on the paved trails, or they may choose to have a SAG vehicle transport them and their bikes back to the finish.

  • Water Stop 1 - Open from 8-10:15 am (Short Route)
  • Pit Stop - Open from 8:15-11:30 am (Short Route)
  • Water Stop 1 - Open from 8-10:15 am (Intermediate & Long Routes)
  • Water Stop 2 - Open from 8:15-11:30 am (Intermediate & Long Routes)
  • Water Stop 3 - Open from 8:30am-12:30 pm (Intermediate & Long Routes)
  • Water Stop 4 - Open from 9:15am-2 pm (Long Route)
  • Pit Stop - Open from 9:30am-2:15 pm (Long Route)

Important Reminders

  • The Minneapolis Bike Tour is not a race, riders will not be timed and no awards will be given
  • All participants are required to wear a helmet throughout the duration of the ride
  • The use of headphones and cell phones on the route is prohibited
  • Please bring a water bottle to refill at the water stops
  • Please bring an ID (for safety purposes on the route) and cash with you for food, beverages and/or merchandise at the event afterwards. You will also need an ID if you are over the age of 21 and plan to enjoy a beer at the post-ride party
  • Bring only what you need and can carry for the ride, as there will be no place provided to store your personal items during the ride
  • Check your tire pressure, brakes, chain and tires prior to arriving at the event. Mechanics will be available at each water stop

Post-Ride Party

Stick around after the ride to enjoy LIVE music, one FREE beer available to participants 21+ (must show valid ID), food from local vendors, exhibitor booths, and Bike Tour merchandise for sale!

The Post-Ride Party is open from 10 am-3 pm, with last call for beer at 2:30 pm. All ages are welcome into the beer garden including family members and spectators. Participants who would like a drink must show their ID and wear a wristband.

Directions

Transportation and Parking

Parking Information: Free parking for Minneapolis Bike Tour participants will be available at the four parking lots listed below:

1100 Sibley St NE
1100 Marshall St NE
385 9th Ave NE
800 Marshall St NE

There is also free street parking in the surrounding neighborhood streets.

Parking is not permitted on the Bike Tour route. Please find parking in the residential areas around the route and be courteous of private residences.

We encourage car-pooling, biking to the start, or use of Metro Transit as parking will be limited.
