The Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board has approximately 30 playgrounds and “tot lots” in its park system. Several are located next to recreation or community centers that provide playground programming and activities.

Since 1950 the Summer Playground Program has provided a fun place for children and youth to play while keeping them active and engaged throughout the summer. Two recreation leaders are assigned to each playground site who plan and lead crafts, games, special events and other activities.
