Fall 2010 Programs
Fall is a great time for a canoe ride on a Minneapolis lake. Join a Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board naturalist and enjoy the crisp fall air, the striking colors of turning foliage and the natural wonders of the city.
Canoes, paddles, lifejackets and basic instruction are provided. Registration is required at 612-313-7725 or minneapolisparks.org.
Wednesday Night Sunset Canoeing – Take a guided sunset paddle to learn about the lakes and the wildlife they support; $10 fee per session.
- Lake Calhoun – Meet at the Lake Calhoun boat landing
- Sept. 15, 22, 29; 6-7:30 p.m.
- Oct. 6, 20, 5:30-7 p.m.
- Lak Harriet – Meet at the Lake Harriet boat landing
- Lake Nokomis – Meet at the Lake Nokomis boat landing
Sunset/Full Moon Canoe: Minneapolis Chain of Lakes – Friday, Oct. 22, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Watch the moon rise over the city and reflect off the water as we paddle at dusk and into part of the night. Learn about the lakes, clean water and wildlife. For ages 16 years and older. Meet at the Lake Calhoun boat landing. There’s a firm limit of 12 people so sign up early; $15 fee.
Canoeing at Powderhorn Lake – Learn about the lake, the wildlife it supports and water quality. For ages 16 years and older; please bring water. Meet lakeside behind the Powderhorn Park Recreation Center at 3400 15th Ave. S. There is a firm limit of 12 people so sign up early; free.
